J.C. Career Training Center has its primary mission to provide services to students and members of the community. The Continuing Education Office will respond to the needs of business and industry professionals and individual citizens in the community by providing lifelong education and training. The Continuing Education Department assists in the overall mission of the institution by offering education programs for occupational or cultural upgrading; workforce development programs designed to meet local and statewide needs and vocational programs leading to employment of skills upgrading.
Continuing Education Mission
An applicant can register by mail or in person at our center location during regular business hours. Registration for classes are done on a first come, first serve basis. Applicants are encouraged to register early to secure a place in the class of our choice. Payment must be made no later than the first day of class.
Registration
Continuing Education/Workforce Development courses are designed for adults 17 years-of-age or order. Exceptions will be made on an individual basis.
Age Minimum
Continuing Education courses have attendance requirements and also require satisfactory completion of the course objectives in order for students to receive a certificate of successful completion.

Refunds
A 100% refund will be given if requests are made prior to the first day of class. No refund is available after classes begin.
In keeping with the higher education standards of JC Training Center, the equipment utilized affords students the opportunity to develop a practical, working knowledge of the equipment and materials they will be using on the job.
All required books and supplies are available at the Center Store. Every attempt is made to keep textbook selections within a moderate price range.

Contract Training
Payment can be made by check, money order, Visa, MasterCard or cash. No registration is complete until payment is received. Payments must be made no later than n the first day of class.

Class Cancellation
The Continuing Education Department works closely with the credit programs to offer concurrent enrollment in some credit classes. Participants in concurrent courses are expected to meet all pre-requisite requirements, attend class regularly, complete assignments, have all required materials and participate in class.

Some courses require assessment testing. These test must be scheduled in advance with the center. Call 903-935-4182 to be scheduled.

The Continuing Education Unit (CEU) is a nationally recognized means of recording, accounting and providing recognition in noncredit education activities =. One ECU is defined as “ten contact hours of participation in an organized continuing experience.
Under responsible sponsorship, capable direction and qualified instruction.” A CEU certification is given to each student successfully completing the requirements of the CEU-approved course. For Licensed Counselors and Social Workers.
CEU
Students are encouraged to be in class every day and on time. It is the student’s responsibility to learn the material covered while absent and to see that all missed work is made up in compliance with the school’s guidelines, Hours of makeup work will not be accepted a hours of class attendance, and make up work is not permitted for the purpose of receive educational training benefits.

JC Career Training Center’s Contract Training delivers customized health care classes to hospitals, nursing homes and organizations.
Classes include Medical Coding I and II, Medical Terminology, Anatomy and Psychology, Medical Records Certification and Health Information Tech.
We offer other workshops and seminars and nursing, counseling and social worker continuing education units. Call Contract Training at 903-935-4182.

Equipment Used in Class
Students must complete all classroom and externship requirements for graduation. CPR/First Aide, AED and Notary Public Completion is mandatory.
Graduation Requirements
Students in Construction & Contracting will have paid OJT through the National Association of Minority Contractors.
